A core reason behind the creation of Alf was to ensure women didn't lose their sense of identity and style when transitioning to motherhood.
As part of our ongoing partnership with Dress for Success we sat down with Chaynika, a 39-year-old fashion designer, volunteer stylist at Dress for Success Perth (DFSP), and proud mother of two children. Having been part of the charity for several years, she can't put into words how much of a difference it has made in her life, and those around her.
Can you tell us a little about you, and your journey?
Before I joined DFS, I was going through a tough patch in my life. my business, my reputation and my personal life was a mess. I needed to start fresh and find something that was bigger than myself. I needed to “belong”. That’s when I started volunteering with DFSP.
What difference has it made to you, being part of Dress for Success?
More than I can put in words. It has given me a new direction. Something which I feel I was always meant to do.
What advice would you give to women who are considering making an appointment at Dress for Success?
Do it for yourself. Whether you are coming for career support or styling session, you’ll love it. Everyone is so welcoming. You will walk away with so much love and support to take that next big step in your life.
Alf has been proudly partnering with Dress for Success for several years, and we were so happy to have you join us at our photoshoot for our Luxe Sue collaboration. I think this is such a brilliant collaboration. Sophie, from Alf the Label, is very passionate about empowering women and her values align perfectly with DFSP. Being a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the support from the community and the other organisations to do the amazing work they do. Every bit helps.
