As a working parent myself, Dress for Success’s cause is close to my heart. As we offer products primarily for women who are transitioning between being a parent and the workforce, I am incredibly passionate about giving back to a charity who directly support women and children in need.
I am so proud to announce we are donating a third of our new handbag sales to this deserving charity. For every Luxe Sue handbag sold we will donate $100 to Dress for Success, a not-for-profit organisation that supports disadvantaged women re-entering the workforce by providing them with career development tools, training and corporate attire.
How did the partnership with Dress for Success originate?
I have been an avid supporter of Dress for Success for many years, even prior to starting Alf the Label. Their WA arm is a well known not for profit in Western Australia and it’s fabulous they have impact nationwide – and worldwide – so as Alf grows globally, so can our partnership.
Prior to starting Alf the Label I worked in Public Relations and Marketing for a range of brands. For me the most important thing a brand can do is try the best they can to support the community who supports them. For Alf the Label it’s mothers and parents in all stages of raising children. We support them through the clever and thoughtful design of our products, alongside and our community initiatives, like working with Dress for Success, to support a wider network of women.
What difference has it made to you, being partnered with DFS?
I feel as though through our ongoing DFS partnership to donate $1 from each sale, as well as our bespoke Alf Exchange initiative donating bags to women in need, for a small family run brand, Alf is truly making a difference in a big way.
What advice would you give to women who are considering making an appointment at Dress for Success?
I can understand how asking for help can be a daunting thing, however there have been so many incredible stories of women walking in to DFS feeling one way, and walking out feeling like a completely different person. The power of self-care and making time for YOU is incredibly important and I believe DFS do a fantastic job of mixing self-care and teaching skills which will assist with securing a job.
Why is this campaign with Dress for Success important to you? The work DFS do is incredible, and more than three-quarters of the women who complete their workplace development program are employed within three months, with eighty percent of participants achieve some form of financial stability by the end of the program. With results like these, there are so many reasons to treat yourself to a beautiful Alf Luxe Sue handbag and know you are making a significant impact to another woman in the community.
